06. Recording an Audio File to MP3

In the following video, you will see how to add the audio recording to your Flourish story and to publish it.

There are many ways to record an audio file using free software. You can use your iPhone or Android device, or you can use a handheld voice recorder such as the Zoom h2n. Alternately, you can use a computer running either Windows 10 or Mac OS X to record your voice as outlined below:

For Windows 10:

• Use the built-in Voice Recorder to create an .M4A file:
• Start > type in “Voice Recorder”
• Click on the Voice Recorded app
• Click on the microphone icon to begin recording
• Click the Stop button to stop the recording

For Mac OS X:

• Use the QuickTime Player to record an .M4A file:
• Finder > Applications > QuickTime Player
• File > New Audio Recording
• Click the play button to start recording
• Click the stop button to stop

File Formats:

At present, Flourish only takes .MP3 files as audio file uploads. If the audio file you recorded is in a different format, you will need to convert it to .MP3 before uploading. There are a number of ways to do that. Here are a few that you can try:

Options to convert audio file format:

• Convert to MP3 format using media editing software applications like Audacity, Garage Band, or VLC (among others)
• Find an online file format conversion site:
  • Zamzar (www.zamzar.com)
  • CloudConvert (https://cloudconvert.com/m4a-to-mp3)
  • Poodll Record MP3 online (https://recordmp3online.com/)

There are several others that you may find online, if any of these listed above don't work.
